Disney CEO Bob Iger gets a book deal

Bob Iger, whose tenure as chairman and chief executive of Walt Disney Co. has been marked by a string of high-profile acquisitions, will write a book about leadership for Random House, the publisher announced Monday.

In a news release, Random House said Iger’s book will explore "the ideas, values, and growth strategies he has developed in his eleven years as CEO of Disney, the world’s largest media company."

Iger became CEO of Disney in 2005, taking over from longtime chief Michael Eisner. Iger had previously served as president and chief operating officer of Disney.

Iger is credited with a series of headline-grabbing acquisitions by Disney over the last decade, including Pixar in 2006, Marvel Entertainment in 2009 and Lucasfilm in 2012. The purchase of Lucasfilm resulted in the production of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," the 2015 movie that was a massive box-office hit.
