After ‘meet’ with Prashant Kishor, Bir undecided on support to Jagmeet Singh Brar

THE PLAN of two Congress rebels – ex-MP Jagmeet Singh Brar and former deputy speaker Bir Devinder Singh – to join forces at the former’s rally slated for May 21 seems to have been scuttled by strategist Prashant Kishor, who reportedly had ‘secret’ meetings with both leaders here recently.

Even as Brar is leaving no stone unturned to make his rally a success, Bir may not extend support to him for the rally. The long meetings, kept under wraps, reportedly took place at CLP leader Charanjit Singh Channi’s official residence in Sector 2 and it is learnt that Bir Devinder was made to understand that he still had a future in the Congress.

Congress, it appears, went into a tizzy when Jagmeet called on Bir Devinder at the latter’s Patiala residence on May 3. That day Bir had told the media that both he and Brar had “common enemies”. A day later, Prashant Kishor came down to Chandigarh and met both the leaders. Bir Devinder refused to comment on his reported meeting with Prashant. He, however, was non-committal on his plans to participate in Brar’s rally on May 21. “I have called a meeting of my supporters on May 15. Let’s see,” he said. Brar, on the other hand, said, “Prashant is a good friend. But my fight is against royalty and dynasty. Bir is an honourable colleague,” he said…
