Naqvi felicitates ‘Loktantra Senani’ in Lucknow. Pramod Adhikari
Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi Sunday felicitated people who had been arrested for protesting against the government during Emergency.
Honouring the “Loktantra Senanis (soldiers of democracy)” at the BJP state headquarters in Lucknow, Naqvi advocated inclusion of incidents of the Emergency period in the curriculum of secondary education, so that future generations wouldn’t forget about the “feudal thinking” of the Congress and the atrocities on the public at the time.
He said this was necessary also for those who talk about ‘intolerance’ these days. Naqvi claimed that the foundation of a “Congress-mukt Bharat” had been laid with the imposition of Emergency. “It is the result of Emergency that the Congress is shrinking from the political map of the country, but still its arrogance is not decreasing.”
In Patna, senior BJP leaders attended a function to commemorate the anniversary of the proclamation of Emergency on June 25, 1975, and attacked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD leader Lalu Prasad for “compromising” with the principles of Jayaprakash Narayan by aligning with the Congress.
