Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.- The Puerto Plata destination starts signaling strong response to private and public investments in the Atlantic coast town in recent years, awakening from decades of neglect.
So far in 2016, tourist arrivals via Puerto Plata’s International Airport jumped 11.6% compared to the same period last year, while the flow of cruise passengers continues to climb at Amber Cove.
The panorama was laid out by representatives and officials of the local tourism sector, headed by Puerto Plata Tourism Cluster (CTDPP) president and CEO Máximo Iglesias, and executive director Jakaira Cid, as part of the fair DATE 2016, being held at the Paradisus Palma Real Convention Center, in Bavaro, Punta Cana.
They said the incorporation of new airlines Eurowings, Nordwind, Dominican Pawa and opening new frequencies such as Katowice (Poland), Port of Spain, Boston, Charlotte, and Sheremetyevo, Moscow.
