Dragowski: ‘I want to start’

New Fiorentina goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski insists he wants “to be a starter for this team”.

The Polish youngster has joined the Viola from Jagiellonia Bialystok, and was officially presented to fans and media today.

“I’ve come here to Florence to try and learn as much as possible,” Dragowski began by saying.

“Any player likes to play as a starter, I’ll try to show the Coach that I have qualities and I hope I can fight to be a starter for this team.

“[current number one Ciprian] Tatarusanu plays for his country, he’s a great goalkeeper and I can definitely learn a lot from him. Then the Coach will choose who starts.

“I hope Fiorentina is a team I can stay with for a while, and one I can go far with. I don’t think about the future, just the present.”

Dragowski was asked about his compatriot, Artur Boruc, who spent two seasons with the Viola before moving to Southampton.

“I don’t know if I can ever be like Boruc, he’s a champion, a kind of [Robert] Lewandowski of goalkeeping. I came here to prove that Fiorentina have made the right choice in focusing on me.
