Which Major Company Is The Best Of 2012? [MakeUseOf Poll]

Last week we asked what are the 5 mobile apps you cannot live without. Over 2,000 of you chose to participate, giving us some nice insights about your favorite, essential, and must-have mobile apps. While apps are a new addition to our lives, they’ve definitely become important! So which is the most indispensable app out there?

As there were many options to choose from in this poll, I will deviate from the usual report and tell you only about the most popular apps. You can always check out the screenshot below to see the full results. According to the 2,188 readers who voted, each voting for 5 mobile apps, the most popular app, and the one most of you can’t live without is your email app (14% of the votes), followed closely by a navigation app (13%), a browser (13%), a file-sharing app such as Dropbox/Google Drive/Skydrive (10%) and Facebook (9%). Closing the list of apps is Pinterest, with less than 1% of the votes. It’s important to mention that Evernote and its counterparts were missing from the original list, but were a very popular choice in the comments.

Last December, exactly one year ago, I asked you to choose which company was your favorite during the year 2011. Surprisingly, although many things have happened in 2012, the list I presented last year is still very relevant. A year ago, the company most people chose as best was Mozilla, who will it be this year? Below you will find the exact same poll from last year. The only difference is a whole year has passed. How did this year change the standings of the major tech companies? Let’s find out!

Explain in the comments why you chose the company you did. Further more, if you chose “none of the above”, tell us which company should be the best of 2012 but wasn’t included.
