Generally, we think of smartphones as falling in the “$200 and up” price category. The Nexus 6, which is actually on the cheap side for an unlocked device, is currently starting at $339 on Amazon. So when we heard there was an LG Android smartphone available from Walmart for just $10, we were intrigued.
Just what do you get in a smartphone for such a low price? There are two models available: the LG “Sunrise” L15G and LG “Lucky” LG16. They have the same specs, but one is GSM and the other CDMA.
It has a modest 3.8-inch 480×320 LCD screen, and while it’s not high-end, the device does come with a quad-core processor in the form of a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 200 SoC. And because this phone has modest specs, it still runs Android 4.4 KitKat.
As far as cameras, selfie-lovers are going to be sad as there’s no front-facing lens, but it does have a basic 3MP rear camera so you will be able to take photos with it.
The device has 4 GB of internal storage, which isn’t that much for apps and music, but also supports a single micro SD card, which allows you to expanded storage.
The LG 15G and 16G both have Wi-Fi B, G, and N and Bluetooth 4.0. There’s no 4G data, so you’ll have to slum it with slower mobile data.
Of course, you get what you pay for, but for anyone looking for a temporary phone or a first phone for children, you really can’t complain for just $10.
Are you going to snag one of these for yourself or is it too low-end for you? Let us know in the comments!
